Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Law hosted a significant academic event within the scope of the Erasmus+ program. Professor Caroline S. Rapatz, a faculty member at Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel in Germany, delivered a presentation entitled “Introduction to German Law and the German Legal System” at the seminar held at our faculty. During the event, Prof. Dr. Rapatz provided participants with comprehensive information on the fundamental structure and systematics of the German legal system, focusing particularly on the structure of the German Civil Code (Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch – BGB) and the systematics of private law. Furthermore, a lecture on the land registry system in German law was given as part of the Property Law course conducted at our faculty, and a workshop entitled “Applicable Law in Extraterritorial Spaces” was held. This workshop addressed current legal debates concerning the determination of applicable law in areas outside of state sovereignty. The event, which attracted significant interest from our academic staff and students, made an important contribution to the comparative evaluation of different legal systems and the strengthening of international academic interaction.
